Just for Clarification's Sake

Books R Love deals with both new and pre-owned books. If you're unsure whether a book is new or pre-owned, just look for the labels at the end of the post.

I will only compare prices of NEW books at Books R Love with that of NEW books in retail bookstores. Rest assured that the prices of pre-owned books are NOT compared with the prices of new books (I personally think this is so misleading for buyers!). The prices at which these pre-owned books were bought may or may not be stated, depending on whether I can recall them :)

Remember You Must Die

Memento Mori by Muriel Spark, the author referred to by The New York Times Book Review as 'the most gifted and innovative British novelist of her generation'.

Summary:

Dame Lettie Colston, seventy-nine and pioneer penal reformer, has much in common with the elderly residents of the Maud ong Medical Ward. All are united by scorn, resentment, boredom--and the humour that masks the awareness of impending death.

Then the insidious telephone calls begin. 'Remember, you must die,' intones the grave, anonymous voice.

As the suspicious recipients set out to unravel the macabre mystery and catch the culprit before the culprit catches them, the intrigues, duplicities and tragedies of their lives--past and present--come to light in Muriel Spark's immortally funny parable of life and death.

When the going gets tough...

...the tough go shopping.

The Secret Dreamworld of a Shopaholic (Confessions of a Shopaholic in the US) is a title that's no stranger to bookworms and movie-goers alike! If shopping is cutting too big a hole in your pocket, this book makes reading about it just as good. Both wittily realistic and realistically witty, the 'irresistibly draft' Becky Bloomwood will make you laugh and leave your bewildered, in a way only Sophie Kinsella can.

Summary:
Meet Rebecca Bloomwood. She's a journalist. She spends her working life telling others how to manage their money. She spends her leisure time...shopping. Retail therapy is the answer to all her problems. She knows she should stop, but she can't. She tries Cutting Back, she tries Making More Money. But neither seems to work. The stories she concocts become more and more fantastic as she tries to untangle her increasingly dire financial difficulties. Her only comfort is to buy herself something--just a little something... Can Becky ever escape from this dream world, find true love and regain the use of her credit card?
